What the fading is

Every surface here has been left out in the light: khaki cloth, ink gone grey-green, a strip of sky that has lost most of its blue. The tea is photographed the same way, dark and oily on one side, bleached pale on the other, because that is what time actually does to a pressed leaf. Nothing is glossed and nothing is saturated back up afterwards. Left alone, this tea only improves; the same holds for a garment worn long enough to lose its colour. The approach follows Jiyong Kim's sun-bleaching practice as we read it. This is a design study rather than a store: nothing is sold here, and we are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by him or his label.
